Biography

Alia is an Associate in the Dispute Resolution team in Dubai. Her practice focuses on general commercial and construction-related disputes in international arbitration matters under the rules of the ICC, SIAC, DIAC, QICCA, JAMS.

Alia trained and qualified at Al Tamimi & Company in Dubai (UAE). She has experience in disputes in the financial sector,  in addition to developers, contractors in the construction industry on a range of construction and infrastructure projects and disputes in the Region. She also has experience in arbitration matters and has knowledge of the rules and procedures of leading international arbitration institutions such as: DIAC, JAMS, ICC and SIAC.

  • Acting for a sub-contractor in an arbitration matter under the DIAC rules, seated in DIFC, in relation to claims arising out of non-payment and delays concerning a residential project in Dubai, UAE
  • Acting for a government-owned entity in relation to an arbitration matter under JAMS rules against a contractor concerning a recreational project in Kuwait.
  • Acting for a contractor in an arbitration matter under SIAC rules in relation to proceedings against a subcontractor concerning an environmental project in Qatar.
