Biography

Midya is a tax lawyer with over 10 years of experience advising private clients, business owners and corporate structures of international tax matters.

Prior to joining Al Tamimi, Midya worked for a prestigious tax consulting firm in Dubai where she was focusing on corporate taxation and private client services including regional and cross-border tax matters including establishing business, transparency, restructuring of ownership, setting up Family Office, succession planning by using trust / foundation and asset protection.

She has also worked in Stockholm, Sweden for one of the Big 4 firms and the Swedish Tax Authority.

Midya has published articles, including in the STEP TQR, and presented at the external seminars on topics related to Private Clients and Wealth management in the region including UAE, KSA and Kuwait

  • Delivered international tax advisory services to a Family Office representing a royal family in the UAE, ensuring optimal tax planning and compliance.
  • Completed a secondment at a multinational investment bank to assist in reviewing internal policies related to client onboarding, focusing on tax compliance and global tax transparency requirements, including CRS and FATCA.
  • Advised a high-net-worth UAE family on structuring their international assets in Europe and the US to achieve tax efficiency and minimize the risk of UAE tax (place of effective management / permanent establishment), inheritance tax exposure, particularly in France, the UK, and the US.
  • Provided strategic tax advisory services to a renowned multinational corporation, addressing tax considerations related to the restructuring of its investments across the UK, Africa, and Asia.
  • Assisted a prominent UAE family business in restructuring ownership and consolidating assets to facilitate compliance with VAT regulations and manage succession planning for the transition of the business to the next generation.
  • Providing tax services to an international oil and gas group from a UAE corporate tax perspective and in preparation for the introduction of BEPS Pillar 2. This includes conducting a pre-exit reorganization, planning for profit repatriation, managing future tax residency considerations, mitigating permanent establishment risks, addressing deemed disposals, and ensuring compliance with all regulatory obligations.
  • Successfully advised an international shipping group on its redomiciling to the UAE, including evaluating their UAE tax exposure and providing strategic guidance on establishing a tax-efficient and resilient corporate structure.
