Biography

Asim has over six years experience advising on a range of advisory and transactional matters.  He has particular expertise in banking and finance related matters.

Asim routinely represents clients (borrowers and lenders) on lending transactions (bilateral and syndicated) as well as project financing. He has regularly drafted and negotiated financing documents and security documents and guided his clients to successful closure of transactions. He is also adept in Islamic financing and routinely advises his clients on the various structures in relation thereto.

Prior to joining Al Tamimi he was a senior associate at a top tier law firm in Pakistan where he routinely was routinely engaged in various banking and finance transactional matters, including project finance, syndications, bilateral lending and Islamic finance.

  • Advising from a UAE law perspective, an international aircraft leasing company, on the change in security trustee and assisting with the drafting of the necessary documents.
  • Advising a syndicate of local banks in the restructuring of their conventional and Islamic financing facilities granted to a UAE borrower.
  • Advising a local company in the refinancing of their USD 60,000,000 facilities.
  • Acting for the lenders in connection with a USD 45,000,000 brownfield project being undertaken in the Emirate of Fujairah for the construction of a white cement manufacturing plant.
  • Acting for the sponsors as local counsel in connection with a 180 MIGD Hassyan sea water reverse osmosis independent water project in the Emirate of Dubai.
  • Advising the sponsors as local counsel in connection with a 90 MIGD independent water project in Hamriyah in the Emirate of Sharjah.
  • Acting as co-counsel for the Roads and Transport Authority of UAE advising on the concession arrangements in connection with the initial public offering of Parkinco on the Dubai Financial Market.
  • Advising various local banks in the preparation of their template finance documents for use by their corporate and retail banking departments.
